Arriving at Keele

Page Section

Moving to the UK is an exciting transition, with lots to think about. Be sure to read the important information below so that you’re well-prepared.

Booking Your Flight

Once you have your visa, your next priority should be to book your flight to the UK. The nearest airport to Keele University is Manchester Airport, which is approximately 37 miles from campus.

We recommend that you arrive the week before teaching begins, so you can benefit from Orientation/Welcome Week. When you have booked your flight, please confirm the details with us by emailing: CollegeServices@kuic.keele.ac.uk

Arriving on Campus By Taxi

Whichever airport you are flying into, there are several options you can choose from for travelling directly to campus:

Arriving By Train

A more cost-effective way to travel from the airport is by train. You can catch a train from the relevant airport train station (Manchester Airport or Birmingham International) to Crewe or Stoke-on-Trent Train Station, and then take a shorter taxi ride from there to the Keele campus. If you are flying into a London airport, you can still travel by train, but you will need to change stations at least twice before you arrive at Stoke-on-Trent Train Station.

Settling In

Your first few days will be very busy, but we will be here to help you settle in. As well as attending Orientation and Enrolment, you will be supported by College Services with important tasks such as:

  • Registering with a GP
  • Creating a UK bank account
  • Getting a UK phone number

Got a question?

We understand this can be a stressful time, as well as exciting. If you need any support, before or after you arrive, please don’t hesitate to contact our friendly College Services team.
