Keele has been ranked the No.1 university in the West Midlands for Children’s Nursing in a new national ranking.

The Guardian’s University Guide 2026 has seen Children’s Nursing at Keele ranked No.1 in the region, based on a range of metrics including student experience, research quality, and teaching excellence.

Children’s nursing students at Keele are prepared to care for children and young people with mental, physical, cognitive or behavioural health challenges. They learn how to put children, young people and their families at the centre of their care.

These rankings continue a streak of positive accolades for Keele courses this year, including 15 Keele subjects being ranked in the Top 10 in England in the latest National Student Survey earlier in the summer.

Marie Doherty, Head of the School of Nursing and Midwifery, said “We are absolutely delighted that our Children’s Nursing course has been ranked number one in the West Midlands by the Guardian. This recognition reflects the dedication of our outstanding staff, the strength of our student support, and the quality of our clinical placements.

“At Keele, we pride ourselves on delivering a student-centred experience that prepares future children’s nurses to provide safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care. Our close partnerships with clinical stakeholders and our commitment to inclusivity and innovation ensure our graduates are well-equipped to meet the needs of diverse communities. This ranking is a testament to the hard work and passion of everyone involved in the programme.”
