Keele University is ideally situated right by a bustling UK university town, Newcastle-under-Lyme, and minutes away from the ever-developing city of Stoke-on-Trent. For weekend visits, Manchester and Birmingham are less than an hour away.

Stoke-on-Trent is the closest city to Alton Towers Resort, one of the UK’s most popular theme parks. Alton Towers boasts several record-breaking rides, including The Smiler, which has the most loops of any rollercoaster in the UK!

If you’re looking for a day out that’s a little more chill than thrill, head to the Trentham Estate; 725 acres of beautifully cultivated garden, parks, and woodland. Don’t forget to pack a picnic and keep your eyes peeled for some surprising wildlife; Trentham Estate is also home to the Trentham Monkey Forest, where 140 Barbary macaques roam free. There’s also the Trentham Shopping Village, a unique outdoor shopping and dining experience.

For more day-to-day entertainment, Stoke-on-Trent is home to a cinema, an array of restaurants and bars, leisure centres, an outdoor shopping village, museums and cultural venues, and acres of green space. The Potteries, a large shopping complex in the heart of the city, is a must visit. Home to over 94 shops, several cafes and shops, and a multi-screen cinema, The Potteries has plenty to keep you entertained all day.

  • Birmingham – 50 minutes by train
  • London – 1 hour 30 minutes by train
