A new partnership will enable aspiring international doctors to combine study in the UK with clinical rotations and career opportunities in the US or the UK.
Keele University International College (KUIC) has launched a new Pre-Medicine pathway in partnership with St. George’s University (SGU) School of Medicine in Grenada, West Indies – the largest provider of new doctors to the US healthcare system.* This is an exciting chance for international students who are keen to study medicine abroad, allowing them to begin their studies in the UK before progressing to a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree at SGU.
Designed to provide an accessible and supportive route into medical education, the programme combines academic preparation at KUIC and Keele University with progression to SGU’s four-year Doctor of Medicine programme. Students will first study a one-year Foundation Health and Science (Health) at KUIC before progressing to Keele University for a year to obtain a Certificate of Higher Education in Medical Biosciences. Those who successfully meet the progression requirements will then be eligible to continue their medical studies at SGU – a university that, for the 12th year in a row, has secured more US residency positions than any medical school in the world.*

As well as the opportunity to study medicine in the UK, the new pathway offers a truly international educational experience. Throughout the six-year programme, students can study in up to three destinations: beginning in the UK, continuing their degree in Grenada, and completing clinical rotations in either the UK or the US.
